Controls and inventory

This page explains the default keys, the vehicle keys, how to use the inventory (F2), and hunger and thirst.

Summary

  • T opens the chat, F2 the inventory, End the phone and F3 the mouse cursor.
  • In a vehicle, Y starts the engine, L locks the doors and O fastens the seatbelt.
  • Your character can carry up to 20kg.
  • Hunger drops by 1 and thirst by 2 every 5 minutes.

You can see your current keys on the Shortcuts tab of /settings. To change a key, open GTA V Settings, go to Key Bindings and choose FiveM.

3. Inventory (F2)

  • Your character can carry 20kg. For example, a rifle weighs 3.5kg.
  • You can pick items up to 30kg, but while you carry more than 20kg you cannot sprint, jump or attack. After 10 minutes the excess drops at your feet.
  • Cash belongs to your character, not to the inventory, so it stays with you after a hospital restart.
  • You give cash with /pay ID amount. You hand over items from the inventory window, and the receiver must accept within 30 seconds with /acceptgive sender-ID.
  • To show someone your items, type /showitems ID. The other player views them with /viewitems.
  • You open a car trunk with /vinv. Home and motel storage is used from inside the room.

4. Hunger and thirst

  • Hunger and thirst only drop while you are online. Hunger drops by 1 and thirst by 2 every 5 minutes.
  • From full to empty takes about 4 hours for water and about 8 hours for food.
  • You buy food and drinks at a convenience store (/shop) and use them from the inventory.

Tip

If the mouse gets stuck on a menu, press F3 or type /resetcursor.
